Of course, the most important design factor is the design for the maximum buck volume allowed by the Vaquform DT2.
The frame piece was traced and cut to size
The outer panel was slotted in first
The frame piece was press-fit into place
While this design certainly came a long way from "drawing board" to final prototype, the result is, from my perspective, just that -- a prototype. Certain improvements ought to be made in a future.
Firstly, the biggest difference between design intent and outcome was the texture of the paneling. The buck, which was created from a glued stack of slices and sanded to reduce sharp angles, might be better manufactured on a CNC router.
While a single length of plastic paneling would be impossible at the current dimensions, given the constraint of the vacuum former bed size, the sliced "cage" frame could have been manufactured as one piece -- though it would have made the bulb-changing slightly more difficult.
Finally, the piece supporting the bulb-fixture is solid, not allowing the light from the bulb into the lower half of the lamp. Cutting holes into that panel will allow for the light to diffuse more evenly into the lamp.
